MAEGER
MAEGER Tigray Women Association in North AMerical is a legally registered NGO based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to empowering Tigrayan women through education, legal awareness, and economic opportunities. Our ultimate goal is to work in solidarity and partnership with women’s rights organizations and movements across the United States and Tigray, Ethiopia, to promote equality and protect the fundamental rights of women at home and abroad.

Educational Empowerment
Goal
Empowering Tigrayan women in the U.S. and Ethiopia through academic access to foster self-protection and growth.
Approach
We give women in Tigray a better chance for education by facilitating academic scholarship opportunities for economically disadvantaged, high-performing female students in both Tigray and the U.S..
Legal Rights & Protection
Goal
Providing legal awareness to protect women from domestic violence and harmful traditional practices.
Approach
We educate women on their legal rights and self-defense mechanisms, working actively to prevent and defend against domestic violence, under-age marriage, and arranged marriage.
Political Leadership
Goal
Assisting women to enter and excel in political leadership roles at all levels of society.
Approach
We bridge the representation gap by providing the advocacy and support needed for women to ascend to political leadership positions within their local and regional governments.
Economic Capacity

Helping women develop sustainable skills and resources to achieve financial independence.
